We the staff of UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. We mourn the killings of countless Black Americans whose lives have ended tragically due to systematic racism. All of us who work in the arts have a responsibility to demonstrate that a better world is possible. The arts are not the only solution, but they are part of an aspirational path forward.

We are united in support of all who are standing against the historic inequity and institutionalized racism experienced by the Black community. We have a duty to listen, to learn and to engage.

Collectively as a staff, we will continue to provide space for these voices to be heard.
